I like this part the very best. The kindness of animals quietly accommodating the new person, the one without either great skill or knowledge of their individual rhythms. Yes, they say, we know how this works. We know how to make you feel at home, to make you feel confident and unafraid. You can count on us. And I do. I am always counting on them.
